This capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands lured Café Britt with its stunning natural beauty and renowned port of call for international cruise ships.

At 31 square miles, this island of about 50,000 inhabitants swells by 20,000 or more on busy weekends when as many as six cruise ships pull into harbor at the port city of Charlotte Amalie.

Our store is at Marriott Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort, about three miles from town along a white-sand beach ribbed with blue and turquoise waters.

The nearby islands of Saint John, Saint Croix, Water Island and surrounding minor islands make up the rest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The grouping is an unincorporated U.S. territory just off the eastern shore of Puerto Rico. Britain administers the remaining islands in the archipelago.

Spain, The Netherlands, France and Denmark have all, in turn, claimed the islands, which pirates likely used as a base to plan their Caribbean pillaging.
